SANDAG has hosted the annual Bike Anywhere Day event for decades, and this marked my third year designing the campaign. While the overall theme remains consistent each year, it’s crucial to keep the design fresh to avoid repetition. With strict branding guidelines in place, I was required to work within the established parameters—using the Montserrat font family and a predefined gradient color palette.
The campaign targets a broad, diverse audience, spanning all genders and ages, with over 8,000 attendees ranging from youth to XXL sizes. To ensure the design appealed to such a varied demographic, I focused on simplicity and clarity. I created a minimalistic bicycle outline that simultaneously conveyed the message: this event is for everyone. By making the design both straightforward and memorable, I was able to quickly communicate the event’s message and engage the audience.
In the end, the response was overwhelmingly positive, and the design successfully resonated with participants across all ages and backgrounds.
